Candidates in the program agree to the following:

  • Complete and submit the online Candidate Application (Year 1 or Year 2).

  • Submit my preliminary program’s Individual Development Plan or equivalent when requested during Year 1 of the program.

  • Attend and participate in the required after-school workshops and colloquia as indicated on the Induction Candidate Calendar.

  • Engage in a professional coaching relationship with a mentor/coach to support my program completion and my “just-in-time” needs for an average of 1 hour per week.

  • Engage in one informal observation and a minimum of 2 observation cycles guided by my mentor each year.

  • Create one or more, professional SMART goal(s) within the Individual Learning Plan (ILP), as one of my measures of progress toward mastery of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP).

  • Consistently reflect on my professional practice with my mentor, and document that reflection throughout the school year on the hours log and ILP.

  • Examine student learning through observations and conversations as a basis for making equitable instructional decisions.

  • Inform the induction program coordinator if the mentor match is not a growth producing relationship or of any issues that arise during the year that may affect the completion of my program.

  • Provide feedback to the program after each workshop and at the middle and end of the year by completing the candidate surveys.

  • Participate in a closing meeting at the end of each year as part of the clear credential progress monitoring and recommendation process.

  • Keep all records of my work in induction for at least 5 years by downloading my induction folder at the end of the year.

  • Acknowledge that my work in the program may not be used for evaluation or employment decisions by my district but may be used by the program for internal program evaluation or training purposes.
