Mentor Agreement

Mentors in the program agree to meet the following expectations:

Mentors earn a stipend of $2000 annually, paid in $1000 increments at the end of each semester. Mentors must agree to support candidates, in accordance with this agreement, and may not submit extra hours to be paid in addition to the allotted stipend.

To earn a full stipend, the mentor must complete all of the following program requirements:

  • Professionally coach the candidate to make progress towards mastery of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP).
  • Meet weekly with the candidate, beyond work hours, for a minimum of one hour/week, or not less than 4 hours/month to provide just-in-time and long-term support. Meetings with candidates may be held in-person, by phone, or online.
  • Attempt to meet with the candidate, and their evaluator/administrator in a “TRIAD” two times a year to assist with annual goal setting, development and tracking of the Individual Learning Plan. 
  • Observe the candidate teaching in their classroom for a minimum of 3 times a semester to develop goals and complete the observation cycles.
  • Practice reflective listening, facilitation skills, maintain confidential conversations, and professional ethics to encourage the candidate’s continuous, professional self-reflection. 
  • Complete the Google folder documents for each semester of the candidate’s enrollment to support the development of their teaching practice.
  • Co-assess the candidate’s reflections at the end of the semester.
  • Attend the 2 required workshops with candidate(s).
  • Attend the required orientation and training for mentors. Mentors will arrange their own subs indicating district business/induction.
  • Communicate with the coordinator if questions, concerns, or challenges arise.
  • Complete the program surveys, as requested by the coordinator.
