Path to Recommendation for the Clear Credential

  1. Determination is made by the contents of the candidate’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP) reflections and observation cycles.
  2. The candidate, with the assistance and guidance of the mentor, completes the ILP bi-annual reflections, which focus on sharing progress towards mastery of the CSTP.
  3. The mentor co-assesses the reflections with the candidate using the program rubric to support the candidate in demonstrating progress.
  4. All induction candidates present their CSTP growth in small groups at Winter and Spring Colloquia to their colleagues, other mentors, site administrators and/or HR Assistant Superintendents
  5. The Induction Coordinator reviews every candidate’s ILP reflections at the end of each semester to provide feedback on the ILP and determine if progress has been demonstrated utilizing the program rubric. During this time, the Induction Coordinator consults a team of Curriculum Facilitators to provide actionable feedback and ensure that all candidates have demonstrated progress.
  6. The Induction Coordinator monitors candidates' eligibility for clear credential recommendation through Progress Assessment forms completed after each semester.
  7. Incomplete emails are sent to candidates and their mentors with feedback on Progress Assessment forms. (Year 1 candidates complete semester 1 and 2. Year 2 candidates complete semester 3 and 4.) Candidates are given multiple opportunities to demonstrate progress.
  8. Year 1 candidates who complete their first two semesters of study receive Transportability Documents along with a Progress Assessment form indicating that they have completed Year 1 of Induction. They attend a closing meeting with the Induction Coordinator to complete their first year in the program.
  9. Year 2 candidates who complete their last two semesters in the program receive Completion Certificates along with a Progress Assessment form indicating that they have completed Year 2 of Induction. They attend a closing meeting, in which the Induction Coordinator conducts an exit interview and clears their credential.
  10. If a candidate is struggling to complete the program, meaning they have not completed revisions to reflections based on the feedback provided, the Induction Coordinator will meet with the candidate and mentor to provide direct support or ask a Curriculum Facilitator to provide direct support.
  11. The Induction Coordinator tracks all additional requirements on candidates' preliminary credentials. Candidates who need to fulfill those requirements may not be recommended for their Clear Credentials until required proof is presented to the Induction Coordinator.
  12. The Induction Coordinator maintains a shared spreadsheet with all HR departments across the six Consortium districts indicating the additional requirements that candidates' must complete to clear their credential.
  13. The Induction Coordinator is the authorized submitter and submits the online recommendation/application to the California Commission on Teacher Credentials after the candidate’s exit interview and all requirements have been met.
  14. The Induction Coordinator supports candidates with their online applications for their clear credentials through a shared remote screen. This final step is presented as one last culminating celebratory gesture.
  15. The Induction Coordinator indicates the date of recommendation on the shared spreadsheet with all Consortium district HR departments.
